Are you about to improve your oral health with a crown lengthening treatment in La Grange, Illinois? If so, our dedicated dental team has a way to help you prepare for your appointment!

Dr. Thomas Bell and our team believe that it’s helpful to know the steps of the treatment. That way you will know what to expect and you will finally feel comfortable in the dental chair. So, to help you prepare for your appointment, we ask you to expect the following steps when you come into our office:

Step 1: To begin, your dentist will numb the tooth and surrounding area with a local anesthetic. This will help you feel comfortable and relaxed during your appointment.

Step 2: Then, your dentist will cut the gums and pull them away from the teeth, exposing the roots and surrounding bone.

Step 3: Your dentist will then remove the gum tissue from your mouth and sometimes the bone from the tooth roots if necessary. The bone will be removed using a combination of instruments, like hand and rotary instruments.

Step 4: Once enough of the tooth has been exposed, your dentist will deeply clean the area by irrigating it with sterile salt water.

Step 5: When the mouth is completely clean, your dentist will stitch the gums back together and cover the surgical site with a dressing called an intraoral.
